The chapter volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose on November 19, 2012 and helped prepare 3000 pounds of corn on the cob to distribute for Thanksgiving meals. Pictures of the effort appeared in the San Jose/Silicon Valley Business Journal dated December 21, 2012

The chapter has updated its Bylaws to adopt the updated membership criteria of the Association and make other minor clarifications.

Nine incoming Board of Directors and five incoming committee members for the ALA Silicon Valley chapter began their new term of office at an afternoon retreat on March 16. Joining us at the retreat, ALA Region 6 Director, Steve Morris, CLM with the law firm Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis, LLP in San Francisco, provided an overview of the Association’s structure and mission, membership statistics, and update on the latest Association endeavors.

The Silicon Valley Chapter was awarded the top achievement award -- ALA Presidents’ Award - Platinum Level - for its effective chapter management in 2011. Congratulations to outgoing Chapter President, Jim Karkas with Kilpatrick Townsend LLP, and his 2011 team.
